A 2020 study shows that nearly 49% of individuals who fell from stepladders suffered fractures, including hip fractures.
Falls from stepladders are not only common but also result in severe injuries, causing significant pain, medical expenses, and potential long-term health complications for the affected individuals.
About the Innovation:
Young inventors from DiscoverSTEM designed a smart ladder that detects if there is any probability of loss of balance and fall.
The mechanism alerts the user about it. Further, if the user falls from the ladder, it opens up an airbag type of cushioning to prevent serious injury.
