Problem Statement:

One of the biggest challenges of a city’s water filtration and distribution system is lifting water from lower to higher areas.

First, energy consumption is a concern, as pumps or mechanisms are needed to overcome gravity. This often leads to increased operational costs and environmental impacts.

Secondly, infrastructure must be robust to handle the weight and pressure of water. Additionally, factors like distance, elevation, and terrain further complicate the task. Proper planning along with sustainable and innovative solutions are essential to address these challenges.

About the Innovation:

Young innovators at DiscoverSTEM developed an ingenious system to lift water using wind power and multi-level tanks.

The wind turbine rotates a spiral pipe at high speed which sucks water at the lower level and delivers it to the higher-level tank. Using a series of multi-level tanks and spiral pipes, water can be easily lifted without the use of electricity and water pumps
