Problem Statement:

Furniture tipping poses a serious safety risk, especially for children, high-rise homes, or earthquake-prone areas.

Imbalance from uneven loads, force, or movement can cause sudden toppling. Current fixes, like brackets or clamps, are messy and challenging to install. There’s a need for a smarter system that actively detects imbalance and stabilizes furniture automatically—preventing accidents before they happen.

About the Innovation:

This team of young inventors at DiscoverSTEM innovated a smart furniture stabilizer using a telescopic rod assembly connected to both walls and furniture.

Built-in weight sensors detect and generate an alarm if a child is causing a disbalance or when the center of gravity shifts beyond safe limits. The rod instantly extends to brace and stabilize the furniture, retracting once balance is restored. Compact, aesthetic, and automatic, it prevents tipping accidents without bulky hardware or manual intervention.
