Problem Statement:
Over 3 billion gallons of clean water are wasted annually in the USA as people wait for hot water in showers during the winter.
There is an urgent need for a solution that conserves water, reduces energy consumption, and eliminates unnecessary wait times in showers. This wastage not only strains natural resources but also increases utility bills for households. A smart, energy-efficient system is needed to deliver instant hot water while minimizing water loss.
About the Innovation:
Young inventors from DiscoverSTEM developed a smart shower head to stop wasting water while waiting for the warm water to reach from the heater to the shower.
The shower head has a special coil that warms the water instantly when the tap is turned on. A sensor detects when hot water is needed, and once the main water supply provides hot water, the coil turns off. This invention saves water, energy, and time, while giving you a comfortable shower experience.
