Problem Statement:
Disposable markers, made of hard plastic, are discarded after a single use, significantly contributing to environmental pollution and waste.
A user-friendly refill system is needed to make markers reusable, reducing waste and environmental harm.
About the Innovation:
Young Inventors at DiscoverSTEM developed a system to refill used markers using centrifugal force.
A motorized round plate holds an ink reservoir and a slot to insert the marker. The tip of the marker goes inside the ink reservoir. When the plate spins, ink is propelled through the tip by centrifugal force, refilling the marker quickly and mess-free. This efficient method minimizes waste, reduces environmental impact, and makes marker reuse easy.
